Who Cares? Re-Imagining Academic Writing as Care (Andrea Scott, Pitzer University / Viadrina Universität Frankfurt Oder)

16.15–17.30

Too often we view academic writing as a set of rules and conventions separate from our values, identities, and communities. Drawing on interdisciplinary theories of care, this workshop invites us to think more holistically about the possibilities for our writing at the university. How might we use our writing to foster community, connection, and curiosity? Over the course of 90 minutes, we’ll experiment with strategies for developing care(ful) arguments that are not only academically rigorous but also inclusive, compassionate, and socially impactful.
